Buyer’s Guide
Which manufacturers have vehicles with the space entension module - SEM from XKuub in their portfolio?
The system will be presented to the public and vehicle manufacturers for the first time in summer 2025. Partners with fitting vehicle layouts will be linked on our OEM partner brands page.
For which vehicle types is the system suitable?
It can be installed in all types of vehicles – motorhomes, vans and caravans and is due to its variable arrangement interesting for both small and large vehicle layouts.
As an end user, can I buy a single drive unit?
Our systems are sold as individual units to vehicle manufacturers (OEM). As an end user, you can purchase a complete vehicle with a fully integrated XKuub SEM module customised to the vehicle. For more information, please contact your local specialist dealer.
Where can I obtain specific technical data sheets, drawings, etc.?
Our space extension module is a pure OEM product. It is only sold to commercial vehicle manufacturers. These manufacturers should contact sales@xkuub.com with the appropriate verification.
No design drawings or CAD data can be made available to private individuals and no development services can be provided for individual vehicle designs.
Where can I find a Xkuub dealer in my area?
A dealer overview with postcode search is available on the XKuub website: link
Vehicle Integration
Can the space expansion modules be retrofitted in an existing vehicle?
Due to the existing vehicle body, its supporting structure and layout, retrofitting involves a great deal of effort and is therefore not recommended. Instead, we recommend having the system installed directly at the factory; you can find an overview of our partners on the OEM partner brands page.
Does the vehicle wall need to be reinforced before installation?
Yes, special reinforcing elements must be incorporated for force transmission, which can absorb the forces and transmit them to the overall vehicle structure.
What power supply is required?
The initial focus is on 12V supply voltage, alternatively 24V is possible. The max. current consumption is limited at 4A per motor. Connection cables with the correct cross-section are included in the scope of delivery
Can the system be connected to the vehicle CAN-BUS?
Yes, the preparation for this is available. The CAN bus interface can be enabled in consultation with the vehicle manufacturer.
Performance Data
How much additional weight must be anticipated for each slide-out?
This depends on the dimensions of the room module. The additional weight is divided into three base elements (1) VCD drive unit, (2) seals with aluminium profiles and (3) side walls of the box.
How heavy can the room extension module be loaded?
This depends on the bearings and sealings installed (friction). The test weight of the European standard slide was defined at 350kg.
What is the maximum stroke/ extension distance?
The standard is 500mm, but travels between 500-700mm are conceivable, the length can be easily increased by adapting the chain magazine to the length of the vario chain.
How high is the travelling speed?
The extension resp. retraction movement takes about 35 seconds with a stroke of 550 mm.
Service
What emergency operating concepts are in place?
If the control system fails when extended, the vehicle is generally unable to manoeuvre (excess width/excess length). The system components are designed for high availability; however, should a failure of the control system, the motors or the supply voltage occur contrary to expectations, there is a procedure for manually retracting the module. This process is explained in detail in the service videos section.
Please contact your specialist dealer directly after each emergency operation. They will carry out an extended fault analysis and decide whether they can rectify the underlying fault themselves or whether they need to involve us as the manufacturer.
At what intervals should maintenance work be carried out?
We recommend maintenance by a specialist dealer every 2 years. Minor service tasks can be carried out by the user during the year.
Which components need to be serviced?
The outside of the slide-out box and the adjacent seals are directly exposed to the weather and rough environmental conditions. Therefore, they must be cleaned and checked regularly.
The top of the slide-out box must be free of ice, coarse dirt or leaves before retracting. To improve the wiping effect of these influences, ceramic protective coatings can be applied, which should be renewed regularly.
